Over It 03:54
Carry me, I’m no stronger than before My heart weighs me down And every time I find an open door It makes me turn around Longing and remembrance Have pierced my hands and feet But oh, my God Take off this bloody crown I’m gonna be so over it I’m gonna let it go Carry me though I’m nothing but a chore Lying on the ground Swallowing pain, I can’t drink this anymore Nor eat this death to which I’m bound I will dwell in confidence Not in self-defeat But I’m taking off this bloody crown Longing and remembrance Have pierced my hands and feet But oh, my God Take off this bloody crown I’m gonna be so over it I’m gonna let it go Over it I’m gonna be so over it I’m gonna be so over it I’m gonna be so over it…

Dancin' 02:20
You dropped half your things As you walked out the door You’re straight out of luck If you want them back Don’t waste your time Trying to settle the score It’s more than a shame If you’re keeping track Oh, how it feels so good to be all alone Oh, and if you summon up the gall To come home Your eyes were a pen And your heart was a check You wrote me a blank one Then you took it back You jumped out the ship When you thought it would wreck You start to drown And you’re swimming back Oh, how it feels so good to be all alone Oh, and if you summon up the gall To come home You’ll see me dancing See me dancing Around the room You tore out my heart Like the draw of a gun You shot me to pieces But you stayed intact You told me three words But you meant not a one You’ll never know love But you’ll feel the lack
3.
Enigmatic sulking in her eyes Expecting me to sympathize Like something so unhinging deep inside Is waiting to be recognized But I’m inclined towards apathy Her pressing problem is plain to see And now she won’t let it, won’t let it go No she won’t let it, won’t let it go Nothing was intended to be done But simply I, the careless one Who let the better of me get the night And in the morning, so contrite But now she’s clearly into me Despite my growing antipathy
4.
St. Peter 03:44
You know it ain’t me to blame When St. Peter don't call your name My baby don’t cry, my baby don’t pray Share what’s inside or care what I say She knows that I can’t get away Give me something to feel Like I have got control If you’ve got some semblance of a soul Gotta do what she say, do what she say Cause she could give it, give it Oh, she could give it all away Spreading her lies and Running her games She don’t disguise the half of her shame But I am chained by what she knows
5.
Bidding farewell to all the Things we took for granted Oh, my soul What I wouldn’t trade for the Misfortune we’ve been handed Oh, my soul You and I will never let it go It’s hard to break a heart That’s turned to stone Oh, where do we start Now that it’s over, the war is won The roots of our family tree Have come undone Oh, tell me my love Tell me we’ll never drift apart We’ll bury the family fortune In our hearts They trampled and burned the fields Our fathers once had planted Oh, my soul And left us to tend an empty House that's barely standing Oh, my soul You and I can never let it go It’s hard to break a heart That’s turned to stone

about

After releasing their EP "The Beards of Kings" in 2010, and a full-length album "Nuclear Years" in 2011, Things Behind the Sun swapped some members and started writing in a bolder direction. "The Family Fortune", a five-track EP, was recorded in a staggering three days, and was released in early August of 2012. The album starts off with "Over It", which captures the sound of TBTS that most fans are accustomed to. From there, however, the album moves toward an edgier, anything-goes sound, which was an absolute blast to record in the studio.
